Language and Cultural Links at St.James

We like to make links with people from around the world so that the children's' learning has a tangible and exciting aspect, and to show them how knowing languages can strengthen their cultural understanding and future employment prospects.

We encourage visits from Spanish speakers who have added a buzz to the children’s language lessons as they show off their skills with native speakers! We have established a long-standing link with my colleague in a school in northern Spain. Our Y6 classes write letters and make recorded presentations to send each other. This gives a real purpose to their learning and brings a sense of achievement.

We have a link with Manchester University who provide students from China to work in KS2 as part of their Masters enrichment. they have been impressed with our lovely children!

Next time you are in school have a look at the Language and Culture noticeboard in the hall to see some of the children’s written work.
