Year 1

This page will be used to keep you updated about what is happening in the wonderful world of Year One. Here are some notices for parents.
  • Outdoor games takes places on Tuesdays. Children to come in their PE kit and sensible shoes. Children should wear their PE kit with a school jumper (please no hoodies)
  • Reading books will be changed every Monday. Please ensure your child has their book and their reading record
  • Homework will be given out every Friday in the orange homework books and is to be returned on Wednesdays

In Year One we do lots of fun and exciting learning.  Our topic this half term is 'A Trip to Africa'. Here is what we will be looking at in Spring 1. 

Science: Animals
DT: African Shields
Computing: Digital Literacy
RE: Jesus Was Special
PSHE: Relationships and Healthy Lifestyles
In Literacy we will be focusing on:
  • Reading and writing Fairy tales
  • Adding 's' or 'es' to make words plural
  • Reading aloud to the class

In Maths we will be focusing on:
  • Addition and subtraction within 20
  • Place value to 50
