Science: Animals Including Humans – Changes Music: Aladdin RE: What matters most to Humanists and Christians? PSHE: Being Global Citizens Computing: Spreadsheets - Crash Course Continued DT: Sashiko PE: Rounders, Benchball and Dance English This half-term, Year 5 will explore World War Two through a range of reading and writing opportunities. Children will learn how to research information, take effective notes and write informative non-chronological reports based on their findings. We will also be inspired by the true story Emmanuel’s Dream by Laurie Ann Thompson, using it to write biographies about para-athletes while exploring the powerful message that disability is not an inability. Maths We will focus on Measure, Volume and Negative Numbers. Children will convert between metric and imperial units of measure, including kilograms, kilometres and units of time, and use timetables to solve problems. We will also estimate and compare volume and capacity, as well as compare, order and calculate the difference between negative numbers. PSHE Our PSHE learning will focus on being global citizens. Children will explore their responsibility towards the environment and consider ways they can live more sustainably. We will also revisit personal safety and healthy relationships through an age-appropriate lesson linked to FGM, building on our previous learning in Relationships. Curriculum:
